Damage to the pelvic floor muscles and stress urinary incontinence are common complications related to vaginal childbirth. Studies have shown that strengthening the pelvic floor during pregnancy can reduce the risk of these pelvic floor complications associated with childbirth. Pelvic floor exercises can be used to increase muscle tone during pregnancy, ultimately preparing for a healthier postpartum period.
