Mindfulness is an ancient concept and practice which has steadily gained popularity, especially during the past decade or so. This is the result of an ever-growing body of research demonstrating benefits of this practice in various domains including mental and physical health and wellness. The regular practice of mindfulness has shown to be supportive in pain management, reduction of stress, depression and anxiety, improved focus and productivity, enhanced creativity, better relationships and more. In our interactions as healthcare providers, mindfulness can be a key factor in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with our patients, an essential component responsible for positive treatment outcomes.
This virtual course is geared towards the pelvic rehabilitation professional to enhance both their personal and professional life satisfaction and serve their patients in a more mindful way. You will learn how chronic stress impacts health and well-being and the latest research on the benefits of mindfulness training for both patients and healthcare providers. You will personally experience various mindfulness practices such as body scan, breath awareness techniques, mindful movement and meditation, so you can experience the power and benefits first-hand. We will explore how to apply mindful awareness in clinical practice to improve your patients’ experience and treatment outcomes, in addition to making your day more peaceful and productive as you enhance your ability to stay focused and become less reactive to triggering situations. You will return to your clinic with the ability to explain mindful awareness and its benefits to your patients and introduce mindfulness into your patient care. You will be able to begin or deepen your own mindfulness practice and apply practical mindfulness skills to a busy workday and personal life to promote your own happiness and well-being.

Carolyn's course "A Mindfulness-Based Biopsychosocial Approach to the Treatment of Chronic Pain" exceeded my expectations in every respect! Her presentations were meticulously and comprehensively researched, and she did a superb job of integrating her review of science and research with experiential practice. She was also very responsive to questions from the audience. Carolyn's two-day program offered content comparable to a semester-long course, and it significantly enhanced how I discuss the treatment of pain with my colleagues and patients. I recommend it very highly.

This class opened my eyes to the enormous possibilities that mindfulness and meditation have, not just for my patients but also for myself. It was a profound experience. An "ah, ha" moment so to speak. Carolyn was a good speaker, provided current primary literature but most importantly, genuinely believes and practices what she preaches
