This two-day, remote continuing education course covers the theoretical concepts, practical insights, and evidence-based research of Red Light Photobiomodulation. Lectures will cover the evolving history of photobiomodulation, the science behind this modality, and the principles underlying its clinical applications. During interactive labs, participants will have the opportunity to learn about different types of red-light therapy devices, including panels, handheld units, and bulbs. This course is instructed by Dr. Alayna Newton, PT, DPT, FAFS, a leading expert in the clinical application of photobiomodulation, ensuring a comprehensive and informative learning experience.
This course includes pre-recorded videos that cover the history and background of photobiomodulation, as well as the foundations of the science behind this modality. Live instruction will include a review of the mechanism of action, research-based therapeutic wavelengths, and optimal treatment parameters. The course will also feature interactive activities where participants can engage in a virtual tour of a photobiomodulation lab, explore various red-light therapy devices, and learn how to choose the appropriate device for both clinical applications and home self-use.
By the end of this course, participants will gain a deep understanding of the foundational principles of red light photobiomodulation and its clinical applications. They will be equipped with the knowledge to make informed decisions about device selection and effectively implement red light therapy in their practice, enhancing patient outcomes. This course is ideal for clinicians who already have a photobiomodulation unit or are considering acquiring one, providing them with the essential skills and insights needed for optimal use
