Your body has incredible power to overcome many physical challenges and heal. The human body is complex; it is fascinating how every component is related. We must look at your body as a whole when addressing an injury. We must look at every system, and find the driving source behind the issue to truly resolve that issue and prevent recurrence.

If you are an individual with a complex history, unclear answers, or have often struggled with chronic and longstanding issues, then you are where my passion truly lies. In daily practice, I see the combination of my advanced orthopedic training and breadth of knowledge on pelvic floor health bring answers and improved outcomes to so many patients when looked at as a whole person. Throughout my career tenure, I have been able to combine my interests of orthopedics, pelvic floor rehabilitation, manual therapy and sports therapy.

Through extensive training and advanced clinical experience as a pelvic floor specialist since 2002, my practice has evolved into treating all types of patients, including: urologic, gynecologic, obstetric, and colorectal conditions. My clinic focus includes treating men, women and children for pelvic rehabilitation through collaboration with multiple medical providers. To ensure advanced competency, I have passed rigorous testing to reach a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner’s Certification, which only 150 individuals have received nationwide. I have been given the opportunity to be the primary mentor for pelvic health in not only my clinic, but within Therapeutic Associates - and love to teach my colleagues. I am one of less than 70 PT’s in the country to be educated in intrapartum pelvic care. This has allowed me opportunities to take part in patient deliveries, assisting with their successful pelvic health, a healthy baby and a healthy mom. I combine pelvic rehabilitation education with advanced training in ultrasound imaging to provide a more extensive treatment option for anyone dealing with low back, abdominal, or pelvic issues.

Over the years, it has been a pleasure to participate in extensive education for both the general public and the medical community. I have been honored with the role of key speaker for several years at the Oregon Podiatry Association, as well as teaching about the complexity of the foot in its relation to the entire body. I have served as a speaker for the National Conference for American Medical Assistants teaching providers how much influence the pelvic floor has on continence, low back, and hip pain. I have recently been invited to speak at the United Nations Platforms on the topic of reducing motherhood mortality through pelvic floor education as well as how we can use birthing positions and proper pushing techniques to reduce cesarean delivery and pelvic floor trauma (Spring 2017).

As a collegiate cross country and track & field athlete, I found my passion for the body which helped me pursue and receive my Master of Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota in 2002. Through my own injuries and continued competition in road races of 5K to marathon distance, I have a special passion for helping athletes. From recreational level to elite athletes, I enjoy helping them reach their maximum rehab goals, including properly fitting them on bicycles and analyzing their gaits. I have had the honor to work with several professional skiers and runners, and am on consultative status for the Nike Oregon Project working with female athletes to ensure their lumbopelvic region is in optimum function. Each year, I help out the Westview and Sunset High Schools providing free injury screens to their athletes.

In the realm of orthopedics, I am a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association. While less than 2 percent of physical therapists obtain these credentials, I believe it is important to test our knowledge and improve our skills as providers. I have also obtained my advanced certification in manual therapy through the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy and am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I have been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 2002 and believe in the continued support of our important profession. I am trained and certified in the Augmented Soft-Tissue Mobilization System and have specialized training and education in bike fitting and gait analysis for runners. I have had the opportunity to receive advanced training in the neuroscience of pain as well as learn the newest research on how our body interprets pain.

Since 2005, it has been an honor to be the director of Bethany Physical Therapy. Because I believe every individual has potential, I lead my team in the commitment to making exceptional results accessible through compassionate therapeutic care and injury prevention. I believe in leading a family-oriented, servant led business of integrity, where we pursue our vision using our talents and strengths, and make a positive contribution to the lives of our employees, patients and referral sources.

In my leisure time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and sons. As recreational enthusiasts, you can find us skiing, snowboarding, running Forest Park, doing yoga, or enjoying arts and crafts with our children, Caleb and Henley. As my accolades display, I am an education junkie who continues to live her passion through over 1200 combined hours of post-graduate clinical education. I take pride in ensuring you the most up to date research-based treatment to improve your physical therapy results.
