Valerie Lapeña, PT, DPT, GCS, PRPC received her Bachelor in Physiological Sciences and Psychology from UCLA and both her Master and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences. Since graduating, Valerie has worked in the outpatient setting serving the orthopedic and geriatric populations at the UCLA Rehabilitation Services. Valerie became a board-certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2004 and re-certified in 2014.
Since 2013, Valerie has focused her clinical practice on women’s and men’s pelvic health rehabilitation. Her clinical interests include pelvic and abdominal pain, bladder and bowel dysfunctions, sexual dysfunction, musculoskeletal disorders, as well as, prenatal preparation and postpartum health.
Dedicated to lifelong learning, she has continued her post-graduate training with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute for pelvic health courses and the Barral Institute for visceral mobilization. She successfully completed the Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) through Herman & Wallace in 2019. Valerie’s love of learning has inspired her to serve as a lab assistant for several Herman and Wallace courses.
