Melissa received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009 from Western University of Health Sciences. She has worked at Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital in Santa Barbara since graduating and has gained experience in both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings, treating various patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses. Her passion for learning has expanded to treating men, women and children with bladder, bowel, sexual dysfunction and chronic pelvic pain.
She received her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification in 2019 distinguishing her as an expert in Pelvic Rehabilitation. Her professional interest includes treating patients with spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, Traumatic Brain Injury and MS who are in need of pelvic floor intervention. She has been trained and proficient in use of SEMG Biofeedback and Rehabilitative US imaging as tools to assist patients with pelvic floor training. Being bilingual has allowed Melissa to provide efficient and effective care to the Spanish speaking community of Santa Barbara.
In her free time, Melissa loves spending time with her husband and 2 children, camping, fishing, hiking, traveling, and enjoying music shows.
