Alex Trevino is a native of the Rio Grande Valley located in south Texas where he brought his passion for helping people through pelvic floor therapy to become a new service line available for the community. After completing his doctorate of physical therapy from Texas State University in 2018 which included rotations and advanced educational training in pelvic health, he created the first hospital-based outpatient pelvic floor therapy in south Texas. He has over 5 years of experience in treating patients, giving presentations to health care providers and the community involving pelvic floor therapy. Alex also initiated the community’s awareness for prostate cancer since 2018 with now-annual September events sponsored by the hospital for patients, their families, health care providers, and the community in proper outreach, screening, and other beneficial activities. He is very glad to be helping people meet their goals in alleviating pelvic floor dysfunction including diagnoses of urinary/ fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, urgency, frequency, pelvic organ prolapse, incomplete emptying, poor/weak stream, constipation, symptoms from prostate cancer, dyspareunia, interstitial cystitis, groin pain, prostatitis and post-void dribble. Also, organization membership and advocacy include the Texas Chapter of APTA since 2015, the APTA section of Pelvic Health, and continuing education with the Herman and Wallace Institute. Alex obtained his Pelvic Rehab Practitioner Certification in 2021 after clinically practicing pelvic floor therapy for 3 years, attending numerous continuing education training, and performing presentations for other health care providers and community outreach.
Alex enjoys playing his violin, basketball, exercising, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs, attending church, and spending time with friends and family.
