Upon completion of this continuing education seminar, participants will be able to:
1. Define a biopsychosocial model of wellness assessment used in complementary and integrative medicine.
2. Integrate the yoga philosophy with the evidence-based biopsychosocial model of integrative medicine for use in the postpartum population.
3. Implement yogic methods, including their indications and modifications, for preparing the pregnant patient for birth.
4. Analyze yoga postures for application in labor and delivery as well as in postpartum rehabilitation and wellness program planning.
5. Create yoga programs for early, intermediate, and long-term phases of postpartum.
6. Demonstrate evidence-based yoga methodology for spine, pelvic, and shoulder rehabilitation.
7. Identify the role of using yoga as medicine on birth outcomes in the United States.
