Upon completion of this continuing education seminar, participants will be able to:
1. Identify ways in which the therapist’s beliefs and perceptions influence the patient-PT relationship.
2. Describe how the hormonal, digestive, fascial, neural, and psychosocial/emotion systems of the body affect patients experiencing pelvic floor symptoms.
3. Implement strategies from the presented treatment framework for effective treatment of the complex patient.
4. Use the practical behavior management tools taught in this class to assist patients in achieving improved adherence to home program recommendations.
5. Use the exercises taught in this class to assist patients in managing the physical nature of emotions to minimize pain sensations, improve body awareness and more effectively progress a home program.
6. List the forms of self neglect and self-care dynamics that are active in the therapist - patient relationship.
