- Define stress and describe the neurophysiological changes that result from stress.
- Evaluate evidence for the use of mindfulness to address stress, pain, and burnout
- Experience various mindfulness practices, and practice explaining and guiding them in plain English
- Define compassion and its role in healthcare
- Define meditation and list “the 5 essentials” of meditation practice
- Develop a mindfulness-based self-care plan including a daily practice as well as “on-the-spot” strategies to maintain calm during challenging moments and to savor life’s pleasant moments.
- Describe precautions for teaching mindfulness practices to your patient
- Demonstrate understanding on best documentation and billing practices for mindfulness-based interventions
