Nutrition Perspectives: Introduction to Integrative Care in Pelvic Health provides the physical therapist and other rehab providers with a unique and timely opportunity to explore the irrefutable connections between rehabilitation and nutritional sciences. This course is an overview for the pelvic rehab provider who wishes to examine the impact of nutrition on conditions commonly encountered in the clinical setting. Correlation between pelvic pain, gut health, and nutrition will be elucidated. The course also addresses nutrition as it relates to scope of practice, and is packed full of tele-health ready strategies for sharing.
Schedule: This short-format remote course is 2 contact hours in length.Objectives:
1. Discuss APTA motion RC 12-15 as it relates to the PT as provider of information regarding diet and nutrition
2. Define the role of the physical therapist and other health care professionals in the realm of nutrition and wellness
3. Compare and contrast foods that hinder versus foods that support physiological processes and healing
4. List components of health-focused rehabilitation and discuss strategies for integration of this information in clinical settings
5. Describe the characteristics of foods that can adversely affect the human movement system
6. Discuss nourishment concepts in the realm of pelvic health
