Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Define terminology and diagnoses related to vaginismus and vulvovaginal dyspareunia.
- Describe basic medical treatment (such as medications and surgery) for patients with vaginismus/vaginal dyspareunia.
- Perform appropriate and trauma-informed external and intravaginal examination/evaluation on a patient with vaginismus/vaginal dyspareunia.
- Instruct a patient step-by-step through initial and progressive treatments with using vaginal trainers (dilators), pelvic floor massagers, and other treatment tools/modalities to address vaginismus/vaginal dyspareunia.
- Provide a patient with strategies and behavioral modifications to transition into desired sexual functioning with a partner.
