Below is a chart comparing PRPC to the specialty certifications offered by the ABPTS. This chart highlights some of the main differences between those considering both options. There are other minor differences not detailed in this chart. Applicants should read the information booklets of PRPC and any ABPTS exam to fully understand the differences.

  Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification ABPTS Certification
Certification Purpose To recognize expertise in the treatment of patients of any gender and age experiencing pelvic pain, pelvic girdle dysfunction, conditions of bowel, bladder, and sexual dysfunction that relate, in whole or in part, to the health and function of pelvic structures and the pelvic floor. Each ABPTS certification covers a practice specialty area: Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Orthopedics, Women's Health, Neurology, Sports...

The ABPTS WCS Certification contains some content area that overlap with PRPC, however these two certifications have different purposes.

The WCS focuses exclusively on women's health, which includes certain topics that PRPC does not address like breast cancer and lymphedema.

PRPC focuses on pelvic care (and issues effecting the pelvis and pelvic structures) of any gender and age.
Eligibility Requirements 2000 Hours of Direct Patient Care of the last 8 years, 500 of which must have been performed in the last 2 years 2000 Hours of Direct Patient Care (in the practice specialty area of the given exam) within the last 10 years, 500 of which must have been performed in the last 3 years
Requirement to submit case reflection with application Not Required Required only for WCS, cardio pulmonary and ECS ABPTS specializations.
Flexibility of Application Fee Convertible to Continuing Education Course or Downloadable Product Credit, this term applies to those who wish to withdraw their applications OR those who's applications are not approved Non-Refundable
